About Us
Handcraft Builders is a high touch, residential general contractor, specializing in high quality, durable home construction in the Phoenix area. We are committed to excellence, constructing each home with care while providing honest feedback, realistic schedules, and exceeding client expectations. We work with the best local tradesmen (the ones we would use on our own home) to bring your home dreams to life.
Handcraft is a small family business managed by Drew Lasley who has 15 years of experience working alongside mentors with 50+ years in the construction industry. He started at the bottom and learned construction from the ground up. Now, as a licensed and bonded contractor, he enjoys supporting his family – and his tradesmen’s families too – by fostering relationships with Phoenix neighbors while bringing their home dreams to life.
our PROMISE
We only work with the best materials available and provide a 2 year guarantee on all labor. We never compromise quality for time and give our clients realistic schedules that accommodate their lives. We pride ourselves with honest customer service, and relationships are so important to us that 99% of the work we do is for repeat customers or direct referrals.

What to Expect When You’re Remodeling
THE INTRODUCTION & DESIGN
I will come out to look at your project, meet you, and get information on the scope of your project as well as your desired dream for your home. After taking any quick field measurements needed, I’ll get to work on building your estimate. This estimate could take between 1.5-3 weeks to complete, depending on the scope of your project, as I work with all involved trades to make sure we have a realistic estimate for you.
If you have a larger project and need architect plans, I have a great architect I will recommend to you. I will need a “bid set” of plans from an architect to put together your preliminary estimate.
THE PRELIMINARY ESTIMATE
The first estimate I will provide is usually a preliminary estimate as most clients do not have their material finishes and complete design/scope finalized. This estimate will provide you with a rough budget for your project that will be adjusted as finalizations are made.
If the preliminary estimate is acceptable and you would like to move forward with me, you can “accept” the estimate using the button in the proposal. This will move you into my scheduling queue, which is first come, first served.
THE FINALIZATION & UPDATED ESTIMATE
Next, you will select your material finishes and finalize your design. We can work together throughout this process to make sure your materials and design stay within your desired budget, if needed.
If you are working with an architect, they will also finalize engineering, city submittals, permits and finish schedule at this time.
Once material finishes and design are finalized, I will update your estimate and review any changes with you.
THE AGREEMENT
Finally, we will set start and completion dates and sign a construction agreement. I will also collect an initial deposit to get materials on order before we begin. The construction agreement will set expectations for both you and I, ensuring that are successful as we work together on your project.
THE WORK
Once we get going and throughout the project, we will have frequent communication. I will be onsite most days to perform work, supervise work and maintain the work area as we move through your job. I will also keep you and any other stakeholders in the loop with relevant information and updates via a group text thread. This will ensure we are all on the same page and I tailor the frequency of updates/information to your preferences as every client is unique and tends to want a different level of communication. Further details about the work, punch list and completion are included in the agreement.
